FISHER HOUSE QUILTS
Helping Military Families

Supporting America's military in their time of need, we provide "a home away from home"
that enables family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time --
during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury.

Safe comfortable housing will soon be available for families of veterans receiving health care at VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas. Construction of a Fisher House, similar to Ronald McDonald House accommodations, will provide “a home away from home” at Dallas VA Medical Center-free temporary lodging for families of VA patients. Construction of the Fisher House on the campus at Dallas VA Medical Center is underway and the projected completion date is September 2008. The Fisher House will include a 21-suite 2 story house, complete with a common kitchen, laundry facilities, spacious dining room, living room, library,
picnic pavilion and toys for children. An elevator will provide access to the second floor.

Quilt Guilds are providing quilts for each suite. We are still short a few Queens size. and of course
we will need crib size as an on going project because they will be given to the children when they leave.
